Winter Solstice

Invitation

Light is the left hand of darkness and darkness the right hand of light.

We are SolSeed; Children of the sun, Awakened by starlight…

This year the Longest Night falls near a new moon, so it's going to be very dark outside. Therefore, the theme for our 2011 Winter Solstice celebration is Darkness! There's much to celebrate about this little-appreciated concept.

We'll start with a "walk in the dark" up on Mt. Tabor just after sunset, carrying red lights to avoid spoiling our night vision. At the top, if we're very lucky, we might see a few stars. (We decided to postpone our big Larch Mountain star-watching expedition until a time when we have a real chance of clear skies!)

Then it's back to the Seed Village for a friendly sit-down dinner. Afterward, we'll turn out the lights for a brief ceremony celebrating the longest night of the year. This year we decided to keep the gathering small and intimate, in the belief that it will make the ceremony more meaningful.

We hope to see you there! (Although given how dark it will be, we may not be able to see you. :-) Here are the details:

When: Wednesday evening, December 21st. You have three options for your arrival time:
