Midweek

- June 6 Service: 9:00 AM PDT, 12:00 EDT (Ben) … (Sanders out for family reunion campout)
- June 7 Work-Bee: 5:30 PM PST, 20:30 EST
Summer Solstice
- Food will be straightforward camping fare … no need to plan far in advance
- Ben confirms he will have needed camping supplies
- Brandon needs to go to a PSAS meeting and verify that the launch is at Brothers as usual
- There are lots of other people who go there to launch rockets at the same time
New Story Blog Post
Meditation
Eric suggests meditating with Ben at 6:30ish
- Ben: I might have to do it from work to make sure I'm not on the bus or bike at that time
Days: try Sunday to Wednesday
- Ben will consider whether doing this before the work bees on Thursdays makes sense
Shiny Green Tribal Convergence
Vision
Need fun activities for the kids (Ren, Sequoia, Eric)
- Map to secret shrines around the Arboretum
- Volunteer work bee, if available
- Michelle's dance performance
- Get bikes and tool around Portland?
Brandon: Not having people stay on site overnight makes the event very different from our previous Open Spaces
- Ben: You could offer to have people sleep at the Seed Village
- We might have few enough people that they could all do that
- Everyone could go to and from the Arboretum together
- Brandon: We can take MAX and a free shuttle (shuttle would be morning only, but the way back is downhill)
Length of the event
- Spending all this money on the room will make us feel tied down to it … but if we don't have the room, we won't have a center of gravity for people to convene
- Also we'd have to do the Spectacle back at the house
Brandon: Make it more of a programmed event and ask people to bring cool things
- Avoid panel discussions
- Science on a Hemisphere would be one thing we could bring
- Eric: Making Permaculture seed bombs
- Brandon: "Seed balls" so it doesn't sound too anarchistic
- Brandon: Envisioning the Seed Village … maybe as a newly broader concept that would embrace more people
Motivating people to come
Eric: The success of the event depends on who shows up and what their interests are
- "Whoever comes is the right people" doesn't quite apply when starting something new like this
- What kind of objections have people given?
- Brandon: Just logistics … no one is saying "it's so exciting I'll move heaven and earth to make it happen"
- Ben: Maybe talking about my Spectacle would help a little
Eric: There aren't that many people who are both "shiny green" and "tribal"
- If we place the center of the event outside us, with only one or two major concepts rather than all three, people could see themselves in the event more easily
- Brandon: We could latch onto the Pagan Community Statement on the Environment
Brandon: The problem is that people generally only have enough energy to keep their own groups going
Closing Blessing
We came, we worked, it is through the tunnel of chaos that we find our destination. Wherever we are going, we are going there together. (Some other things we didn't manage to type) -- Blessed Be
