- Ben … I am really confused about my move. Since I found out that this studio is more expensive and staying in this complex is less expensive than I thought. I also found out that they are renovating the building where I am moving and they aren’t telling me how disruptive that will be.

- Focus question: It’s been 18 years since OEB published Parable of the Talents. What can we learn from Acorn? What do we envision for our Acorn-like ecovillage in the Portland area or elsewhere?
Where
- Tryon
- Weekend cost (Friday night through Sunday) is less than twice the cost per day ($1000 vs $600)
- "we will reduce the per hour rate of using the farm by $5/hour if you use zero or one parking spot!"
- Technically we'd be wasting some money if we spent some of the weekend in other locations (unless only some of the participants left)
- "We are particularly interested in hosting multiple groups at the same time that can informally interact with each other"
- Good for future Kindred Festivals
- Would fit with inviting people from CampOma
- The Sanders' new place
- Good place to spend time on Friday before our Tryon rental starts if we do their weekend package
- Eager to see the new place!
- Likely we'll spend time there no matter what … it's the best option for where to sleep
- Ecovillages in SE Portland?
- Could give us more good ideas, or just too many scattered impressions
- Fun factor: some of them are really cool to look at … especially Share-It Square and Sabin Green … and they all have chickens! (Riley says yum!)
- Eric: Sounds very fun
- 4T Trail
- Hiking creates interesting spaces for organic small-group discussions … hard to take notes though… some of the good ideas that came up last year on the trail are lost … could just record the audio though (bring digital recorders?)
- Loved it last year. Could spread it out over more of the weekend in order that it not be too exhausting?
- Arboretum? … indoor space near the 4T Trail
- Only interesting if we're worried about the weather or really need a projection screen

- Good place to spend time on Friday before our Tryon rental starts if we do their weekend package (depending on weather)
- Finding that mural last year was really special.
- On the Willamette in kayaks/canoes
- Definitely fun, but may not be that useful for planning
- Could use it to plan a floating ecovillage (maybe a bunch of these) <NOT>
- Canoes are better for discussions involving more than a few people
Activities
- Build an ecovillage model (kids: five fingers?)
- Maybe assign each person or small group the task of choosing a home or other structure and building it out of whatever materials they want
- Have someone (Ben volunteers) figure out the map to place the buildings on
- Other playful activities that go beyond discussion
- Read quotes about Acorn from Parable of the Talents (not the depressing ones)
- Write poems about Acorn / ecovillages / intentional communities / tribal businesses
- Draw a hypothetical illustrated timeline of how we'll develop our ecovillage
- Create a future dated TimeLine game about the history of our ecovillage
- Some kind of fun activities to figure out social aspects
- Conflict-resolution simulation
- Paint a picture of what a group of people at peace and in community look like.
