### Revisions to We Believe and the outcomes we focus on
The changes that are coming need some acknowledgement somewhere
- Brandon feels that transhumanism has much greater implications (in the near term), and will be the driver for whether life transcends the bounds of this planet … so transhumanism is the thing we should be shaping
- Ben is okay with talking about transhumanism in the creed, but not with making it the central thing
SolSeed struggles with being an overly abstract set of ideas and could benefit from being more grounded
- The Gaia statue and how it helps us connect viscerally to Earth is a good example of groundedness
- What is the religion trying to accomplish in our personal lives?
- What are the services in service of?
- When telling people about the Great Birthing, it makes us seem disconnected from reality because it seems so impossible to work toward that outcome … it may not be good for us to lead with that
- Eric: I've been leading with religiously and scientifically valuing nature and deep time … but that doesn't explain what we're going to achieve in the world
- Eric: It appears to outsiders that we're four people working on four different missions … how do we explain that?
- "If you join, you'll get moral support for any mission you're on that's in line with our values"
- Ben: But we do need a unifying practice … are the services and meditation calls enough?
- Eric: The core practices enabled me to make the decision to buy Buckleberry
- Brandon: I don't know if they motivate me … they help me stay in touch with my values, but so does a hike to look at birds … the services help me connect with the "isness" of precious life, being present to its being
- Eric: The steady repetition of the service keeps reminding me what my values are … keeps me from getting sucked into the values of the culture I'm immersed in, e.g. increasing my status at work
Eric: Until shortly after I joined SolSeed, I was really focused on gaming, but I don't do that anymore
- Brandon: I've also struggled with gaming, movies, TV, and other escapist consumption … those addictions are certainly blunted by our practice
- Eric: Can we sell the fruit of not wasting your free time on entertainment? … It's hard to even be aware of that as an addiction because there are so many particularly harmful addictions like drugs … an addiction doesn't need to damage your health or suck up your income to be a serious addiction
- Brandon: It's been really hard to avoid filling our kids with sugar, both the literal kind and the consumption addiction kind, e.g. Pokemon Go or looking at videos … we are huge outliers among the families we associate with, although there is one neighboring family whose values are super aligned with ours
### Evaluation
- Ben … I’m really glad that we’re finding an approach that seems to be getting Brandon more motivated
- Brandon … I'm really glad that our connection and trust is deep, so that my questioning doesn't feel super threatening … a little threatening, but we know who we are from a values perspective, and that that's not going to change
### Closing Blessing
We live in extraordinary times. The world around us can feel overwhelmingly complex and powerful. And while we must react to these vast forces, we don’t seem to have the levers that will make any difference. May we start where we are and shape ourselves that we may build outward toward being able to reshape the world. May we Bring Life!
