Holacracy Stewards Workbee … Of Note ... Work on Purpose, Domains, Accountabilities for Contributors (20 min)
- Brandon learned that there is sometimes no Lead Link in the outermost circle (for example the Holacracy One’s organization), and that the Lead Link in a circle is usually in charge of assigning non-elected roles
- Brandon wants to work on the purpose, domains, and accountabilities of the Contributors Circle
- Eric proposes that only Stewards can select other Stewards
- Brandon agrees, saying that typical open-source projects don’t become successful democracies until later in their lives
Purpose for the Contributors Circle
- Start with “Expressing the Arete of Life ... it is in Life's nature to flower and spread, even to the stars”
Domains for the Contributors Circle
- All SolSeed Movement property and ordinary operations
- Relationships with kindred groups and people
Accountabilities for the Contributors Circle
- Ensuring that our individual and collective words and actions are aligned with our highest aspirations (cultivating the spiritual/religious fruits of the SolSeed Movement)
- Choosing and Managing SolSeed Movement projects and ensuring that they align with the values of the SolSeed Movement
- Documenting the SolSeed Movement and Practices
- Recruiting New Members
- Ensuring that Members are well cared for
- Non-Stewards in this circle should regularly report on progress to the Stewards Circle
Purpose for the Stewards Circle
- Expressing the Arete of Life ... it is in Life's nature to flower and spread, even to the stars
Domains Reserved for the Stewards Circle (Not to be devolved)
- The SolSeedCreed and other core expressions of values and beliefs including our Highest Aspirations
Accountabilities Reserved for the Stewards Circle (Not to be devolved)
- Appointing the Lead Link for the Contributors Circle
- Appointing new Stewards
- Determining the basic structure of the organization (i.e. how Stewards are selected, what sub-circles to create under Stewards, and even whether or not to keep using Holacracy)
Scheduling the next Holacracy meeting
- Brandon is okay with just Ben and Eric doing it, but then Brandon shouldn’t be the one to prepare for it
- Eric suggests a weekday evening time, which helps to maintain progress through the summer
- Brandon suggests this would be the “backup business meeting”
- Eric prefers just having both meetings every week (except in case of scheduling conflicts)
- Eric is willing to go as late as 10-11 PM Eastern, 7-8 PM Pacific
- Brandon says Thursday is by far the best day for him, because Shelley is home that evening

- Ben will take his bike on the train, but Eric won't bring one from Ottawa
Evaluation
- Brandon … I am excited and having fun … thank you guys! I think we are getting close to being ready to become an official organization.
- Eric … I feel like adding a second work bee meeting is really the right thing to do to get in gear
- Ben … I feel like we thought we were getting in gear when we created the financing spreadsheet but that didn’t really accelerate our concrete progress, and now it is feeling like we are becoming less lethargic.
