Celebrate Evolution Solstice Triathlon
- Do it early
- 9am ... avoid heat; runners like it cool
- Short to encourage participation ...
- A try-a-tri is 375 m swim, 10km bike, run 2.5 km
- Normally for Michelle, Patrick and I we go even shorter: 750 m swim, 1 km run, 6 km bike
- I suggest for little kids we go even shorter: 100 meter swim (with option to wade), 400 meter run, 1.5 km bike/skateboard/rollerblade
- Official triathlon puts run after bike to reduce danger when people are really tired
- We need to put swim first for symbolism se below. So even more important to keep distances short
- Order of operations and symbolism
- Before ... fresh fruits and vegetables (no technology)
- Swim first ... life began in the oceans
- Run Next ... life moved onto the land
- Bike Next ... Then humanity added technology enabling SolSeed to venture to the stars
- After ... highest technology cooking system available (chocolate fondue ;))
- Philosophy
- About participation rather than an olympic event
- Call it the Celebrating Evolution Solstice Family Fun Triathlon
- T-shirts or other freebees with the short story of evolution image; something like: fish, amphibian, monkey, bicyclist
Triathlon to Do
- Need some spotters
- Park in Portland area ... with swimming
Eric will be coming June 19-June 26 at the very longest
### Evaluation
- Shelley ... little crazy toward the end with Zeke ... overall got a lot done
- Ben ... the way we sort of focused on (lot of focus on a topic but missing not a lot of topics) ... maybe we want to consciously shorten the agenda and say (we'll work it more in the long term)
- Eric ... maybe we'll want to split into subcommittees as we grow (four people not a problem, but as we grow)
- Brandon ... I enjoy working with you guys ... excited and energized
