SolSeed < SolSeedMovement < Octavia Butler
Octavia Estelle Butler (June 22, 1947 — February 24, 2006) was the author of the Earthseed series "The Parable of the Sower" and "The Parable of the Talents". These two books follow Lauren Olamina as she develops Earthseed, a humanist religion dedicated to helping people help themselves. Lauren is a young African American women trying to incubate Earthseed in the midst of the chaos of a crumbling society. The two Earthseed "Parables" books inspired the creation of the real-world SolSeedMovement.
