[SolSeed](/SolSeed) is not a religion, but some members identify themselves with various religions, while others do not. Specifically, this page looks at how [SolSeed](/SolSeed) fits with those who identify themselves as atheists.
Among other things, atheism is a sort of positive [nihilism](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nihilism). Yes, if there is no God, then the universe wasn't made for any particular purpose, and our lives have no inherent goal. But we can make our own purpose; that is the power of the human mind, to find new reasons for being beyond simply obeying what our DNA tells us to do. Caring for [each other](/Empathy) and for all [life](/life) on Earth are two such self-made purposes. [TheDestiny](/TheDestiny) is another, and it may one day become the most powerful and central purpose of our civilization.
