Brandon has done some processing on this
* Every religion and social movement has a spectrum from fundamentalists to "postmodern relativists" (ecumenicalists in the case of religions) … SolSeed will have that spectrum
* We should try to shape what our fundamentalism might look like, and welcome the fact that we'll have that
* Accept the fact that we have some spectrum already with just the 4 of us
** Brandon tried out a fundamentalist position and found that it doesn't work for his family, although they can be more fundamentalist than Ben or Eric
*** They now have a stronger stance that some things are more right than others, and that some of the grandparents' beliefs are incorrect
*** Brandon and Shelley accept that they will shape the boys' exposure to ideas along SolSeed lines, although they will be free to change their minds when they grow up
** Rico might turn out to be the most fundamentalist of all of us if he joins
** Ben will continue to believe that some things are right and some things wrong, but not believe that it is “wrong” to not want to colonize space.
* Are people who don’t accept our story about the importance of spreading life immoral in some way?
** Processing that … most often the story is not visible and not a “live option”
* Is it worth being urgent about the need to have life beyond Earth really soon that might be able to survive a collapse of civilization on Earth and maybe help rebuild afterward? E.g., Musk's Mars city, Lifeboat Foundation's space station
** Eric thinks this is something that could work
** Brandon thinks the main value of this idea is to help spread the story quicker, which is an end in itself for the next 200 years
*** The outcome itself would also be valuable, but even failure could be positive if the story spreads … it would make some people less attracted to the story, but others would be motivated to try again
** Ben’s position is leaning toward the idea that we don’t have time right now to make it work, and that the only people who are likely to be able to rebuild after a crash are people on Earth. If humanity goes extinct on Earth in the next 100 years, then a space colony won’t be able to survive.

* Brandon: Facebook and YouTube have very high potential for us
** We have 1300 Facebook likes because we spent about $1300 years ago … they're not LatentUs, but they're about 2 steps removed from that
*** We should learn from how the World Pantheist Network is growing so fast … maybe hire an 18-year-old to put together a Facebook post for us every day
** YouTube: We haven't created any videos that have gone viral, but if we advertise on other people's videos (e.g. Symphony of Science), we could draw people in that way
** Brandon wants to start running experiments like this again, just throwing some money at the problem
* Ben wanted to mention that although connecting with Pagans has been interesting, there may be a better (or at least another) group to focus on. One that generally agrees with cherishing the Earth and is also full of space enthusiasts, and is defined by the fact that they embrace science.
