== Pantheacon Report ==
We arrived a little after it started (didn't miss anything critical). We met John and Ruth Halstead pretty early on. They took us under their wings and that made it a fun experience for us and so I am grateful to them. It had a fairly typical con feel to it. A lot of cosplay and ordinarily marginalized people hanging out with their people.
The Atheopagan group is pretty interesting. They were unable to get a normal slot so they negotiated with Pagan Scholars to use their hospitality suite and there was an open house and a workshop and a ritual (all told about 5-6 hours of Atheopagan programming). There is a ton of other stuff going on (about 13 tracks). The Atheopagan thing is really resonating a lot with people.
I feel it is the most fertile conference/venue that I have been to for Kindred; the only circle in the venn diagram that is not well represented is probably the Call (The Destiny, The Obligation, Space!). There is a lot of non-science (nonsense) going on. But there is a lot of people who are thoroughly naturalistic there. If I have learned anything, I have learned that the Atheopagan is really resonating with a lot of people and the only disparity is the Call.
Jon Cleland Host was really nice to me; absolutely Kindred guy although not certain about the call. He was talking about animism and how science is a natural extension of animism.
Thanks to this event, I feel that now is the most fertile time for a Kindred festival ever.
Ben: What about John's [http://godischange.org Earthseed website]?
* Brandon: Registered May 2014. He talked a bit about it at the con.
* Eric: We found John Halstead in June 2014. Eric, Brandon, and Patrick were sitting around looking for potential kindred. Eric found Solis and Brandon found Humanistic Paganism. So John’s Earthseed stuff predated that.
** Brandon: Maybe that type of cooperative web searching could be a productive activity to try again (along with asking our existing contacts for leads on other groups).
== Boni’s Challenge ==
Brandon: I was talking to my Mom and she was lamenting what she originally thought SolSeed was going to be which was a lot of service and uplift, and how we didn't go that way much. Working on Bioswales is a good example (one of the few where the boys got into it). More care for Earth. More care for other People. She thought we were going to be that way and we kind of went a different way a bit. I feel kind of disconnected from that vision. I feel sad about that and I would like to address that.

Proto-Kindred Festival (meeting the people who would become co-conveners of the full festival
* Include open space elements and festival elements.
* Our group at least could provide a spectacle of some sort and perhaps Drumming the Eons and maybe some other spectacle.
* Close to Portland so it's easy for people coming from out of town
** Somewhere outside, but with a rain backup and places for people to sleep (a hotel)
** The Arboretum is one option; it has a picnic shelter (open sides but some rain protection) and hotels are just a stop away on the MAX

* Ben … I’m excited to be dipping my toe into hosting an event and glad that it isn’t a huge commitment. And I want to find out more about John’s Earthseed thoughts.
* Eric … I am super excited about coming to Portland in August. Every time we talk about it I get butterflies.
