Solstice service in the morning, festival in the evening ... sleep by the tree. Sanders have to leave by 10am on Sunday. ** Some CDs that the Sanders sent out were damaged in the mail, but we can hand out replacement CDs at the event. * Ottawa: Saturday after the service, Eric will drive out to Jessica's parents' place, launch rockets in the afternoon, then potluck, then fireworks just after sunset == [[GaiasHeartbeat]] == * The "we don't know her and we don't love her" thing ** Brandon agrees that the goal is to change this situation ... he's trying to draw a parallel with cells in your body ** Eric: How about "We don't know her but we could love her"? ** Ben: Could we say something along the lines of "most of us don't know or love her?" ** Eric: Or we can just say "there will be other songs about loving Gaia" * Gus's timelapse ** Brandon: We should see if John wants to use it or not before asking Gus for formal permission ** Ben: We could tell John that ''we'' want to use it ** Eric: We should make sure John has as much artistic freedom as possible ** Brandon: We could play weather patterns like this forward and backward to simulate breathing *** Ben: Editing tricks like that seem intellectually dishonest to me *** Brandon: I don't care so much if the imagery is truthful or not ... I'm going for emotional impact rather than intellectual communication *** Eric: I think it's okay to use imagery to show that we see a parallel, even if it's not a perfect parallel *** Brandon: We'll try not to show a pulsing motion where there really isn't one == Kindred 2015 - June 19th to 22nd? == Inviting co-conveners * Our letters should give a phone conversation as the next step * In the phone conversation, we should ask "Who would you really like to see at this event (if they were there, it would make you super excited about being there too)?" ** Then ask them to invite those people (we'll help them put together the invitation) The $6000 funding proposal * Brandon: I don't want to rush through that discussion == Website === Since the update, one more person has put in their email but hasn't confirmed == Evaluation == * Brandon ... I enjoyed talking to you ... I appreciate our diversity of ideas, and I agree that Gaia's Heartbeat would be a stronger video if it didn't take liberties with the way the world works * Ben ... The call was good overall. With the discussion of playing footage backwards, I felt like I was falling into an old pattern of being the contrarian that people wish they could ignore. In the end that seems to have resolved well and we got some other good stuff done. * Eric ... I don't know what I want to say ... there was nothing wrong with this call ... not every call has to be super great ... I love working with you guys
