Year Plan

- It seems very unlikely that we'll want to go to Windward
- Shawn and L will probably visit Tryon this coming Friday
- Scheduling: Ben and Shawn are available May 5-6 or Memorial Day weekend; Ben has a preference for the latter
Equinox
- Shawn and L might not be able to take their car; BoltBus or Greyhound could work
- Simplest way to get from the BoltBus to Ben's neighborhood is bus 512; for the Greyhound you'd take the Link light rail to a Metro bus and it would cost more
- Story length: 8 pages is okay, but not ideal; it can be as short as you like
- Shawn needs ritual supplies for Viriditas de Terra the previous morning
Patron Foundation idea
- Since we're all computer people, if we want to start a business together, a Web-based company seems ideal
- Shawn can do both frontend and backend web programming
- Rico does web stuff
- Ben does C# but only for desktop apps; he's done web programming long ago
- Not sure what Brandon and Eric do
- Issues with current jobs
- In the busy times at Shawn's current job, it's a big aggravating distraction; it's nowhere near the values we talk about
- Ben’s current job is feeling like just 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, that he’ll never have again. Sometimes there is satisfaction in building something cool, but it’s mostly it’s just a slog and the rest of life is so overwhelmingly complicated that it’s exciting to think about taking some serious time off work so I don't have so much time pressure all the time.
Gaia's People
- Shawn: Sounds more like a Pagan religion, while SolSeed sounds like it could be anything
- He's read Seeing Nature but not the Lovelock books on the Gaia hypothesis
- Ben: Some people mistake SolSeed for SoulSeed… same issue with sounding more religious.
- Shawn is more interested in being part of something more academic than a religion, and concerned that people who embrace science will be repelled by the connotations of religion … if we sound more religious, we're less likely get people who are opposed to institutional religions … we also don't want to sound like a cult
Evaluation
- Shawn … I'm feeling better, less aggravated than when I woke up … looking forward to continuing the conversations … still wishing we were talking more on the Slack rather than relegating things to this call ... Excited about Seattle Equinox next week.
- Ben … I’m concerned about being able to find the time to read the Slack and give considered responses. One more reason to take some time off work. Excited about further developing ideas for making the future we want for ourselves, as well as the world.
