Weekly Events Logistics
Midweek
- December 31 Work-Bee: 6:30 PM PST / 21:30 EST … Eric out due to New Years Eve, likely cancelled
Weekend Service rotation: Eric, Shelley, Brandon, Ben
- January 2 Service: 9 AM PST / 12 EST … Shelley tentatively unless Sanders are out, in which case Ben
- January 3 Business Call: 5:30 PM PST / 20:30 EST
Winter solstice
- Skype had problems due to playing YouTube videos at the same time
- Have another laptop available at each end? (one for each purpose?)
- Eric should actually organize the Lego before hand like he said he would in his WWW but did not
- It was partially organized but the move necessitated undoing that
- Eric loved seeing the video of the successful climb in Redmond
- Eric wanted to be with the Redmond group
- Maybe he could join us on the west coast next time … although Michelle wants to do a trip in early August, which would use up the Saumurs' travel budget for the year
- Eric: I liked the secondary event we did on Skype to mark the moment of solstice on Monday
- Ben thought that it was really cool to be able to bring together some different types of people who got along well and worked well together. We ended up with a negative opinion of sci fi fans from our early experiences of going to conventions where no one was interested in SolSeed. But this time we got some cool sci-fi people and real world engineer people and one person who had a foot in each area.
- Ben has mixed feelings about holding it in Redmond again. I would be relieved to have it be someone else’s responsibility but on the other hand I probably can’t invite Redmond scifi bookclub people to Portland (unless they could also include Powells and Voodoo Donuts in the trip).
- Ben feels like I didn’t communicate everything that I needed to to my guests ... in particular I didn’t mention that the location was up two flights of stairs with no elevator.

- Thursday evening might kind of work, Friday evening more likely if we want to get people other than core members
Skating
- There's no ice on the canal in Ottawa yet (very unusual)
- They do have indoor rinks, but hockey teams have them booked up most of the time
Food?
- The Saumurs always go to a Mexican restaurant that serves deep-fried ice cream, hot chocolate with whip cream and sizzling fajitas … combination of hot & cold relates to the melting of the ice at the end of the last Snowball Earth
Ceremony?
- Make up some words to say to commemorate Conflatorium?
- Or just use the existing service
