A Book of Days for Gaia's People
Introduction
Metaphorium is a meta-metaphor. It is a metaphor for metaphor itself. The stories of the Metaphoriuminomicon are metaphorical fables. The characters are personifications (metaphors in the form of persons), the settings are often metaphors, the plots are metaphors. The reader is asked to suspend disbelief but never to believe. The ideas presented are speculative but science-based. I have strived to be scientifically accurate in the underlying concepts which the metaphors describe but metaphor necessarily clouds the boundary between fact and fiction. The purpose of the stories to help you develop personal relationships with abstract concepts, or at least, the personifications of abstract concepts. You may care more about Earth's biosphere if you have a personal relationship with a fictional Gaia. You may care more about the fate of the universe if you have a personal relationship with Thea Me Plokamia.
The book is organized as A Book of Days. It is a book which lists a different version of the same activity for each day. This creates both variety and sameness of practice in your life which brings you a deeper connection and stronger practice to your religious experience. This Book of Days draws upon the SolSeed symbolic year and the SolSeed practice of daily contemplation to give a practitioner a deeper understanding of the SolSeed religion. Feel free to use this book for whatever period you find useful, pick a day here and there to follow or follow it for multiple years. Each day will include one or more quotes from texts that SolSeed members have found meaningful and then a metaphorical story.
The calendar "starts" just after the Winter Solstice which is the beginning of the SolSeed symbolic year. But the year is a cycle and the stories form an unbroken cycle. Characters will "remember" stories that happened later in the year because perhaps they happened in an earlier year. You may need to read round the cycle of the book a few times in order for everything to come together into a sensible whole. But also, each story more or less, stands on its own and can be read independently of the book.
