Solstice

Triathlon

  • Graphic
    • Do we create a slight variation on the already popular evolution t-shirt design, or something more true to the concept (starting with early fish and progressing through small mammals) and potentially less popular?
    • Could compromise by making the fish and rodents cuter
    • Have a background (ocean with a slope coming out of it) to match popular versions that start with fish or amphibians
    • Put swimming, running, and biking humans below the evolution progression to illustrate the connection to the triathlon
      • The human at the end of the evolution progression could be carrying a spear or riding a wheel instead of biking

Moment of Solstice ritual ideas

  • Eric ... large piece of brass kept hot in a campfire, spray cold water on it and watch the blast of steam ... symbolizing early metalwork
  • Ben ... stretch out our arms toward the sun
  • Shelley ... stand in a circle ... some sort of music, maybe drums (Sequoia really loves drums) ... marching or walking pattern ... countdown
  • Brandon ... on the beach if possible ... giant bonfire if possible ... trips from the fire to the ocean to get water, each participant does the same thing
  • General idea:
    • Get 5 drums, one for each of the core people
    • Each person takes a break from drumming in turn to go get some water
    • Brandon wants the piece of metal to be sun-shaped

Evaluation

  • Shelley ... I feel like we made good progress and worked well together toward achieving consensus on values-ridden decisions
  • Brandon ... I'm excited about what we're planning, looking forward to seeing it happen
  • Ben ... I felt like the call was a bit rushed, maybe that is what always happens when we have a bunch of agenda items and get in depth on one of them ... maybe an argument for only having a small number of agenda items per week
  • Eric ... Feeling more and more a part of this group (even though I am thousands of km away), that the ideas we are bouncing back and forth are bringing us together and that what we are doing is tying this group together for the future and that is a key part of what we are doing
