OnePagePlan

4th Quarter Goals

  • Spiritual Practice:
    • Yellow: Solstice celebration ... UnConference moved to 1st quarter 2011
    • No other change

Books

  • Brandon will create a publication plan this week to publish the children's book by Thanksgiving
  • Brandon's vision for the bigger book:
    • Title: SolSeed: The Book of Life
    • Includes kid's book, big book, some hymns and poems
      • Useful as material for services
    • Publish a new version maybe every year ... only a few copies for core members
    • How to write it?
      • On the wiki? ... formatting and poem copyrights could be issues
      • Brandon hates working with MS Word
      • OpenOffice?
    • Parts of it (like the "big book") can be published in other ways
  • Purpose of the "big book"
    • So people who resonate with The Destiny might discover us
      • Ex. we could a copy in each bag handed out to attendees of a convention
      • Carry copies around with us to hand out to people who might be kindred
      • Making it short and having a good hook in the intro and inspiring pictures would be good for this
    • To inspire the current members
      • Or at any rate, only people who are already really interested
      • In this version, the trifolds (and wiki) serve the purpose of initially drawing people in
      • Shelley is okay if we don't go this way as long as the bigger book, The Book of Life, is just for us

SpaceVision followup

  • Ping the NASA outreach guy
  • Ping the moon society guy ... see about getting reciprocal links going
  • Ping Chris Carberry at Explore Mars
  • Ping Will Watson about the directory of businesses
  • Ping Steve Brody about the eMBA from ISU
  • Ping Larry from Jacobs about something

  • Ping Rick Hanton about SpaceWiki contest and SEDs promotion (Brandon's favorite idea)
    • $1000 for the SEDS chapter that contributes most meaningfully to SpaceWiki over maybe 2 months
    • Maybe $500 for second place
    • Send out notes every 2 weeks about who's in the lead

  • Make sure the SpaceWiki sign-up script is working, maybe update it
  • Upgrade MediaWiki on http://SpaceWiki.com
  • Look into Space Access Society Conference and others
  • Think about cube-sats for future SolSeed business?

Unconference Event

  • Majestic Mountain Retreat instead of Falcon's Crest
    • Smaller ... might only sleep 14-16 (not counting sleeping bags)
    • Not in a town ... could be a disadvantage if we need supplies
    • Cheaper than Falcon's Crest, even with fees for each additional person after first 4
  • Be more choosy about who we invite?
    • Advertise widely and have people apply for spots?
    • Charging people to cover costs would also help give us a high selection bar
    • Scholarships for people who write stuff on SpaceWiki?

Closing Words

Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
